According to a 2016 study by the University of California, those who fulfilled all five criteria lived a longer life than those who didn’t. You can reap the health benefits of increasing your consumption of whole grains. People who consume more whole grains are less likely to get diabetes, heart disease, or cancer. It may seem tempting to replace whole grains with refined grains. Instead, try small and explore different flavors and grains to discover your favorite. If you're struggling to make the switch, you may want to consider increasing the amount of physical activity you do every day. Healthy body is vital for a healthy existence.

Another study found that very few Americans have the right lifestyle to be healthy. Only 3% met the criteria to lead a healthy life. This means that healthy living is not something only the wealthy can afford. You can live a happier, longer life and not suffer from any age-related diseases or declines. BMI stands for Body Mass Index. This is a measure of body fat that is calculated based on height or weight. BMI is calculated using the following formula:

Weight in kilograms divided with height in meters.

The score is expressed as a number between 0 and 25. Scores of 18.5 and higher indicate overweight, while scores of 23 and higher indicate obesity.

A person of 100 kg with a height of 1.75m will have 22 BMI.

What's the best diet?

There are many factors that influence the best diet, including your gender, age, weight, health condition, lifestyle, and personal preferences. Consider how much energy and low-calorie foods you consume, as well as whether or not you are a fan of fruits and vegetables.

Intermittent fasting might be an option for you if your goal is to lose weight. Intermittent fasting allows you to consume only certain meals per day, instead of eating three large meals. This may be a better option than traditional diets with daily calorie counts.

Intermittent fasting has been shown to improve insulin sensitivity, reduce inflammation and lower the risk of developing diabetes. Intermittent fasting has been shown to promote fat loss as well as improve overall body composition.

Exercise: Good and bad for immunity?

Exercise is good exercise for your immune system. Your body creates white blood cells when you exercise that fight infection. Your body also eliminates toxins. Exercise helps to prevent heart disease and cancer. It can also lower stress levels.

Exercising too often can cause your immune system to be weaker. Exercising too hard can make your muscles sore. This causes inflammation and swelling. Your body will then produce more antibodies in order to fight infections. The problem is that these extra antibodies can cause allergies and autoimmune disorders.

So, don't overdo it!

How To

10 Tips for a Healthy Lifestyle

How to maintain a healthy lifestyle

We live in a fast world where we don't get enough sleep, eat too much, drink too much alcohol and smoke cigarettes. We don't take care of our body's health properly.

It is very hard to find a balanced diet and exercise routine when you work fulltime and do all these things at the same time. It is even more difficult if you feel stressed. Then, your mind tells yourself that it cannot handle this situation any more so we feel guilty about it and give up.

You may feel that something is not right with your body. Consult a doctor immediately to get his/her opinion on your current condition. If there is nothing abnormal, then it might just be stress from your job.

Some people think they're lucky because their jobs let them go to the gym on a regular basis or they have friends who help them stay fit. These people are truly lucky. They don't have problems. They control everything. I wish everyone could become like them. Unfortunately, many of us don’t know how to manage our personal and work lives. Many people fall prey to bad habits, which can eventually lead them to developing diseases like heart disease, diabetes and cancer.

Here are some tips to help improve your lifestyle.

  1. Sleep well - at least 7 hours per night, maximum 8 hours. This means sleeping properly and not consuming caffeine in the hour before bed. Caffeine blocks melatonin hormones, making it difficult to fall asleep. Also, make sure that your bedroom is clean and dark. Consider using blackout curtains, especially if working late at night.
  2. Good nutrition is key to a healthy lifestyle. Avoid sugary products, fried food and white breads. Fruits, vegetables, whole grains and whole grains are good options for lunch. For afternoon snacks, it is recommended to eat foods high in protein and fiber like nuts, seeds and beans, fish, dairy products, and fish. Avoid sugary snacks like cookies, chips, chocolates, and cakes.
  3. Drink lots of water. We don't have enough. Water aids in weight loss, skin health, digestion, and keeps our skin young and supple. Aim to drink six glasses of fluids daily to lose weight more quickly. Checking the color of urine is a good way to gauge your hydration. Dehydrated is yellow, orange dehydrated slightly; normal pink urine; overhydrated red urine; and clear urine indicates highly-hydrated.
  4. Exercise - It has been proven that regular physical activity can improve energy levels and reduce depression. Walking is an easy workout that can also improve your mood. Walking is easy, but it takes effort and concentration. Your brain needs to keep your eyes on the road and focus on breathing slow and deep. A 30-minute walk for 100 to 150 calories can be burned in 30 minutes. Start slow and work your way up. To prevent injuries, be sure to stretch after exercising.
  5. Positive thinking is crucial for mental health. If we are positive, we create a happier environment in our minds. Negative thoughts can drain energy and cause anxiety. Keep your motivation high by focusing on the things you want to do. If you feel overwhelmed by all these new tasks, break down each task into small steps. Be aware that you will fail at times, but don't despair. Just get back up and start over.
  6. Learn to say No. We are often so busy that our attention is not focused on the important things we are doing. It is important for you to know when to say "No" and how to do it. Not saying "no" is rude. Simply saying "No" does not mean you are rude. There are always other options to finish the job later. You should set limits. Ask someone else to help you out. Or simply delegate this work to someone else.
  7. Take care of you body. Healthy eating habits will increase your metabolism and help you lose weight. Do not eat anything too heavy or oily because they tend to raise cholesterol levels. It is a good idea to eat three meals and two snacks per day. Aim to consume 2000-2500 calories each day.
  8. Meditate - Meditation can reduce stress and anxiety. The best way to let your mind relax is to just sit still, with your eyes closed. This exercise will give your mind clarity, which is very important in making decisions. Regular meditation practice will make you happier and calmer.
  9. Breakfast is the most important meal in the day. Skipping breakfast can lead to eating too much lunch. You don't have to wait until noon to enjoy a healthy breakfast. A healthy breakfast can boost your energy levels and help you control your hunger.
  10. Clean eating is key to a happy mood. Avoid junk food and any food products that contain artificial ingredients or preservatives. These foods make your body feel acidic, and can trigger cravings. A variety of fruits and vegetables is rich in vitamins, minerals and other nutrients that can help improve overall health.
